Another day, another surprising cancellation by Netflix. After several series cancellations after the first season itself comes this news, about the cancellation of Seven Seconds, a web series that premiered on Netflix just last month. The web series, about white police officer involved in a car accident with a black teenager was critically acclaimed for its portrayal of racial tensions in the country.

The series had a big star cast, starting with Regina King, Clare Hope Ashitey, Russel Horsnby, Beau Knapp, Michael Mosley, David Lyons, Raul Castillo, Zackary Momoh, Patrick Murney, Michelle Veintimilla, Nadia Alexander and Coley Mustafa Speaks.  With this, the list of series that Netflix has cancelled after just one or a couple of season has increased. This year, Everything Sucks was cancelled after only one season. Previously, they cancelled Gypsy and Girlboss after only one season. It’s not that Netflix is cancelling only school-based web series. Seven Seconds didn’t have a school based background and neither did Gypsy or Girlboss.

Every time Netflix cancels a specific series, there’s always a question about how Netflix will keep infusing content. This year will also see the end of their partnership with Marvel. This makes the future of the Marvel series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Man, Luke Cage and Punisher bleak at best.
