Netflix brings to audiences Kingdom, a two season web series that is based in medieval Korea, and is about humans becoming flesh eaters.
Netflix is really adding diversity to its content plan – and proof of it is Kingdom, the English language web series set in a medieval Asian country. It’s about people turning into flesh-eaters. That pitch should be enough to make horror fans sit up and take notice, but Kingdom goes a step further. The series has been described as a romantic drama meets sci-fi thriller.
The series is set in medieval Korea, during the Josean period, and that’s what makes it fresh and more interesting. According to the synopsis, a Prince is sent on a suicide mission to investigate a plague that’s turning humans in flesh eaters. The series stars Ju Ji-Hoon, Bae Doona, Ryu Seung-ryong and others. The series is based on Land of the Gods by Kim Eun Hee.
The trailer promises some intense action, horror elements and everything else that will cater to the action genre as well as the horror genre. While the first season will stream soon, the second season will go into production sometime in February, 2019.
