Netflix is going cool on documentaries and they just unleashed another genre of documentary on streaming platforms – Ugly Delicious. The 8-part documentary is the brainchild of David Chang and Morgan Neville.  Chang is known for his Momofuku Restaurant and the Oscar Award winner Neville is known for his documentary from 2013, 20 Feet from Stardom

According to show makers, the show will have David will travel with writers, chefs, activists and artists who use food to break down cultural barriers, tackle misconceptions and share experiences with each other and everyone. The show doesn’t only talk about high-end, polished cuisines but also goes into the lesser known cuisines like Viet-Cajun and home cooking in Copenhagen.

The special guests on the show are Jimmy Kimmel, Alan Yang, Wolfgang Puck, Ali Wong, Nick Kroll, Eric Wareheim and Gillian Jacobs.  Ugly Delicious will debut streaming on February 23, 2018.

Netflix is known to add a special ingredient to food documentaries and keep it a little different from the staple fare that’s been around on television since a while. Their last original dealing with food was To The Bone, which spoke about a young woman who couldn’t eat and therefore was on the verge of dying.
