The other streaming platforms are growing by leaps and bounds, but Netflix isn’t showing any signs of slowing down as well. In the first three months of 2019, Netflix has increased its user base by more than nine million, and just shy of 10 million. This is a significant rise than the expected number of 8.9 million. Around 2 million users from the US have signed up, and globally a little less than 8 million users are added to Netflix’s kitty.
2019 will be the most competitive year for Netflix, with home grown content channels in India growing and other foreign companies looking at India as a valuable market. This year, Disney+ will also make an impact on the Indian market and the other existing services, like Sony LIV, Hotstar and ZEE5 amping up their services.
Disney+ is looking good, and so is Apple TV+, a new service that Apple announced a while back.
