Netflix acquires streaming rights of Baahubali films

In a major development, Netflix has acquired the rights to stream S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion for $4 million (around Rs 25.5 crore).

Shobu Yarlagadda, co-founder and CEO of Arka Mediaworks, the company that produced the Baahubali films revealed in a LiveMint interview that with this deal Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly, which is not possible theatrically.

Netflix has been making news in the Indian market for quite some time now. The Digital Hash has already reported that Netflix will come up with two more original series in India, apart from Sacred Games: Selection Day, a story of cricket and corruption based on a book by Booker prize-winner Aravind Adiga, and Again, a detective show written by Marisha Mukerjee.
