Neha, who debut with the film Kareeb opposite Bobby Deol will return to screens with a short film. The short film will release sometime in May 2018. Manoj Bajpayee, her husband, made the announcement and revealed why Neha, real name Shabana Raza, wasn’t seen in a movie since a while. The last film Neha was seen in the thriller Acid Factory.
He said that after their marriage, Shabana became a hands-on mother to their daughter, AvaNayla, who is now six years old. The short film is produced by husband Manoj Bajpayee and Suparn Varma directs.
Manoj Bajpayee is very active on the short film front and even starred in the short film Ouch, which released in 2016. That film was released under the banner of Royal Stag Barrel Select Presents Large Short Films.
However, Manoj was apprehensive about revealing much about the short film itself. He said that it’d be unfair to reveal the story, because the short film was yet to be released. However, he said that Shabana had been offered several TV series as well as web series, but she never gave them her nod because the roles were too cliched. He also said that she was offered several ads, like those for jewellery houses and consumer products.
Manoj also said that web series and short films are now finding a lot of eyeballs and investors are looking to put their money into newer, better and thematically strong films which would work on any medium, even if they don’t end up making a 100 crore.
Meanwhile, Shabana has said that while she will be returning to the screen, she hasn’t yet decided whether she’ll be retaining her earlier screen name Neha or switch to her original name, Shabana Raza.
