Netflix bagged the big one with Saif Ali Khan signing up for ‘Sacred Games’. Now, buzz is that Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be the antagonist in the series that’s already becoming popular. Reportedly, the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor will essay one of India’s most wanted gangster, while Saif will play cop Sartaj Singh.
Set amid the chaos of Mumbai, this series will explore the corrupt underworld lurking beneath India’s economic renaissance. ‘Sacred Games’ is based on the award-winning book of the same name written by Vikram Chandra. Vikramaditya Motwane directs this series, produced by Netflix, in partnership with Phantom Films.
In a media interaction, Saif said that digital content is taking over the dynamics quite rapidly. He also said that Netflix is currently ruling the digital content. He termed his experience of partnering with Netflix as satisfying.
This will be Netflix’s first original Indian series. Netflix’s competition, Amazon, has already come up with their first Indian original series, ‘Inside Edge’ just a month back. The series was based on a fictional T20 cricketing championship and became controversial as well as popular.
