Mature love stories are rarely handled well by film makers, but streaming content creators have succeeded – more or less. While Bollywood has Jogger’s Park and Life… in a Metro, streaming platforms have short films like Khulji and Kheer. Now, Gorilla Short Films brings to audiences Purana Pyar, starring Mohan Agashe and Lillette Dubey, among others.
The trailer tells us that they play two individuals who live in an old age home and decide to take an impromptu holiday, making others worry that they are runaways. The director tackles the concept with the softness succeeds in bringing the emotions to screen. This is one of the few short films that Mohan Agashe and Lillette Dubey have worked in. Also, the short film promises to introduce a whole new generation to the voice of Suresh Wadkar, one of the most successful and prominent playback singers in Bollywood in the eighties and nineties.
It’s interesting to see that even the content creators who put up their content on YouTube are moving away from the humour and slapstick videos and coming up with relevant and intense stories now. With short films like these hitting YouTube, YouTube could become a free, simpler option for content creators who do not want to go through the hassle of selling off their product to other streaming platforms.
