Lara Dutta is making a comeback to the arc lights and this time, she’s producing a web series. The web series will be based on the book The Meadow by Cathy Scott-Clark. According to reviews, the book tells the story of 10 backpackers who were kidnapped from the idyllic mountains of Kashmir in 1995. It is said that the kidnapping was the beginning of valley terrorism. The book uses diaries, letters and classified police interviews to give an insight into the kidnapping. It also interviews the terrorists who had carried out the kidnapping. The web series will be made under her banner Bheegi Basanti.
This is the next book that’s made on a story that was first a book and then a web series. Earlier, ALTBalaji made Haq Se, that was inspired from the novel Little Women. Interestingly, both these stories are set in Kashmir. While Little Women was set in Britain, Haq Se changed the set up to Kashmir.
Lara Dutta made her debut with Andaaz, opposite Akshay Kumar and with Priyanka Chopra. She later on starred in films like Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Khakhee and others. She was last seen in the film Azhar and was also part of the film Katrina Kaif starrr Fitoor. Her next mainstream film is Welcome to New York, which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh and others.
