Day by day, it is becoming easy to access and consume digital and streaming data. Earlier, Indians would have to depend on the digital content provider’s inbuilt services to buy their products. Now, the Department of Telecommunications had announced that mobile users can use their mobile accounts to buy e-books and films digitally. It is unclear whether they will be able to pay subscription charges to the services like Netflix or Amazon.
Another aspect that is unclear is whether this will do away with the extra charges that the Indian customer pays in terms of service charges.
Google is accepting carrier payments since a year now. It started out with Idea Telecom and added Airtel and Vodafone to its list.
Looks like the concept of going digital is surely going to get a greater push.
