Imtiaz Ali has finally come to the streaming screens with a short film titled ‘Paani Panchayat’. And Imtiaz’s father, Mansoor Ali, will face the camera in the film for the first time. In fact, the film was conceptualized by Mansoor Ali, as water conservation is a concept that is close to his heart. And here’s one little known fact about Mansoor Ali. He has earlier worked as a water management consultant for several government bodies. He has also designed several irrigation projects for governments in his life.

The backdrop of the film is a remote village of Bitapur, where women take complete control of the water pump operator. One who controls the water controls the world is a fact reiterated in the contemporary world.

During an interaction, his son, Imtiaz, said that whenever his father would feel nervous facing the camera, he would think about his sons, who had already made a name in the industry.

While Imtiaz Ali presents the film, it is directed by Arif Ali, who earlier directed the feature film ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’.

The film is part of the National Geographic and Water Aid Foundation initiative, ‘Mission Blue’. The other films that are part of this initiative are Hansal Mehta’s ‘Paanipath’, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s ‘Baiju Bulli’ and Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Ek Baalti Paani’.
