Bhakthyar Irani makes his web series debut with ALTBalaji’s Zabaan Sambhal Ke, the web series that’s has a similar concept to the original, that ran for five years on Indian television. TheDigitalHash caught up with Bhakthyar to gain insights into his role and the show itself.

  1. Tell us about your journey to Zabaan Sambhal Ke

For it, it was simple, it was an Ekta Kapoor show. I said yes to it immediately. I know that it is a great brand for TV, so it was logical for me to be part of the show.

  1. Tanaaz was a part of the original show. Did you two talk about it?

We spoke about how they shot it back in the day. We didn’t discuss the script. She just spoke about the aesthetics and how the television industry worked back then.

  1. Tell us about your character in the show.

I play a Parsi Bawa, who is now looking to settle down. He has everything in life, apart from the love of his life. So, he tries to serenade very woman with his poetry – even if the poetry doesn’t make any sense or isn’t as good as he thinks it is.

  1. Sumit Raghavan plays the role made immortal by Pankaj Kapur. How was it working with him?

Sumit and I have worked earlier on a show, Badi Door Se Aaye Hain, so it was just like getting back to work together. He’s a phenomenal actor and it’s always good working with him.

  1. The original show had a storyline as well as the comedy. What will this show be about?

Yes, this show will also have a story arc. It will be situational comedy, but the story arcs are in place. So, yes, the series has a similar template to the original Zabaan Sambhal Ke, that was made so famous.

  1. What’s the most difficult scene you shot for the show?

Well, it’s was not a difficult shoot. You see, we shot indoors and there weren’t any difficult camera angles or stuff like that. Basically, it was good fun.

  1. What’s next for you?

I am very picky about the projects that I take. That’s because I am not in a hurry to make money. I have a home in Mumbai, so there’s no rent hassles. It’s like ‘meri zaroorate kam hai iske liye mere mein dum hai’. So, I am in talks with for few projects, but we’ll see what we see.

Zabaan Sambhal Ke streams on AltBalaji soon. Here’s wishing the cast and crew all the success.
