Kamya Panjabi has finally released the last project that the late Pratyusha Banerjee starred in, a short film titled ‘Hum Kuchh Kah Na Sakey’. The film became controversial because of the personal life of Pratyusha, who allegedly committed suicide. Her boyfriend, Rahul, was charged with abetting the suicide.
The film is about a young couple who are recently married and shows how their relationship goes from bad to worse in 3 to 4 scenes.
What’s wow? Hum Kuchh Kah Na Sakey is shot quite well and the director has had a field day with the camera angles. These angles take the audience much closer to the characters on screen immediately and create a connection between them. The makers have kept the screenplay crisp. They also succeed in keeping an open ended story.
What’s blah: The background music is outdated and cliché. Though the film is shot beautifully, the end credits and even the ‘No Smoking’ card seems amateurish, taking away from the viewing experience. The screenplay is crisp but the story leaves a lot to be desired –it hops from the couple being happily married to having issues. As the audience begins to connect to the characters, the film ends. The characters end up being one dimensional.
Parting shot: We see no reason for releasing ‘Hum Kuch Na Keh Sakey’, other than someone wanting to bank on the controversial death of one of the lead actors.
Director: Karan Kashyap
Producer: Nikhat Neerushaa
