Hugh Hefner might be the most colorful personality we ever know. The founder of Playboy is more mystery and rumors than fact when it comes to mainstream media. But all that is bound to change with American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story, a series that is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

The 10 part docu-drama includes interviews and cinematic re-enactments. People who have spoken on camera for the project are Jesse Jackson, Gene Simmons, Bill Maher and others. The series begins in Post-War America and tells us about how the Playboy magazine was launched in 1953.

The series speaks about how Marilyn Monroe became the first Playboy bunny, how Playboy gave birth to the centrespread and also talks about the controversial death of Dorothy Stratten, the controversial interview with Malcom X also finds pride of place in one of the episodes.

Amazon Prime content is now available in India at a yearly subscription of 499 INR.
