Hansal Mehta recently brought to the digital space his web series, Bose: Dead or Alive. The positive response for the web series has excited the experienced director. So much so that he has announced that he will bring at least one such show every year.
In a media interaction, Mehta said that the online medium brings with it creative freedom and directors can say something without any fear and more importantly, without the fear of a weekend box office performance.
In the media interaction, he said that he was happy the way Rajkummar Rao had created a name for himself and audiences should look out for more Mehta-Rao collaborations. Rao was part of Hansal Mehta’s award-winning film Aligarh and the played the protagonist in the web series Bose: Dead or Alive.
Hansal Mehta therefore becomes one of the many mainstream directors who are looking at the digital space to bring stories close to their heart on screen. Earlier Farhan Akhtar, the acclaimed director brought Inside Edge as a Producer. Kabir Khan is also working on a web series with Amazon Prime, the Forgotten Army, which will be based on the war epic by Subhash Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army, making it the second web series based on one of the most controversial and well known Indian freedom fighter. Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar’s sister is also working on a web series that will talk about competition between two wedding firms and is being shot in Delhi.
