Horror is one of the most loved genres all over the world – and now there’s a film festival that’s exclusively for short films in the horror/thriller/slasher genre. The film festival will be held from May 18 to May 20.
The venues are the YB Chauhan Hall and the Ravindra Natya Mandir in Mumbai. The deadline to submit the films is May 11. The festival is definitely good news for filmmakers as well as fans of horror films. Filmmakers will not just get exposure, there are cash prizes too.
The Best Film will stands to win 2,00,000 INR, the Best Director gets 25,000 INR the Best Writer gets 20,000 INR. There are other awards like Best VFX, Best Cinematographer, Best Background Score, Best Trailer, etc.
The co-founder of the festival, Farhad Katgara said in a statement that they are excited about bringing forth this unique format and providing a platform to filmmakers to showcase their work.
Speaking about the festival itself, Jeffrey Reddick, the writer of the cult favourite ‘Final Destination’ series will be one of the panel judges. Other judges are Indian technocrats who have worked on some of the most popular horror and fantasy films like Darna Mana Hai, Krrish and many others.
The festival is the brain child of Manoj Sinha, Shaunak Sirrole, Ritu Waghela and Rohish Hegde, the people at Sixth Sense. We had a chat with them and we will be putting up that interview soon.
