Nostalgia works, and how! Back in the eighties, Full House was one of the most popular TV series. Netflix tried their hand at invoking nostalgia with a spin-off web series, titled Fuller House. Fuller House is the official sequel to the original, that ran from 1987 to 1995 and features Candace Cameron Bure as Donna Jo Tanner-Fuller, a widowed mother who tries to juggle her professional and personal life, with help from her sisters to raise her kids. Fuller House has been successful among Netflix audiences – at least that’s what the three seasons of the series tells us. Now, a fourth season is in the works, that’s been confirmed by Jeff Franklin, the executive producer of the web series.
According to Netflix, it is the second most binged series in their inventory. Even Nielsen, the only analytics available – even if unofficial – says that the premiere of the 3rd season for Fuller House drew more than 4 million US viewers.
The complete cast includes Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Michael Campion, Elias Harger, Soni Nicole Bringas, Dashiell and Fox Messit, Juan Pablo Di Pace, Scott Weinger, Josh Brotherton, Ashley Liao, Adam Hagenbuch and others.
Netflix is working the retro card to success. Amazon Prime has tried that with little success. For example, it streams several retro web series and films, like Riche Rich and others, but that hasn’t been very successful for the big A.
