The Central Board of Film Certification has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, but they have finally woken up to the brave, bold new world of the digital era.
The I&B Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced a few days ago that creators of short films, teasers, trailers and ads now have respite from the proverbial ‘pillar to post’ for their film certification.
Producers of the above mentioned projects can now get their films certified via an online process – they no longer need to physically submit their projects to the Board.
In further good news, they do not need to be physically present in the CBFC office for the certification of their film.
The new guidelines state that only the final copy of the film should be submitted, along with information about the media partners and a statement from the production houses that the film is complete in all aspects. Once the film is approved, the complete documentation from the side of the CBFC will be done online.
With this decision, CBFC has definitely decreased the hassle that the short film makers face while getting their product in front of the required audience.
