In 2017, we use Facebook not just to keep in touch with our social group but also to consume content. So, it was only natural for content providers to want Facebook to  allow users to subscribe to their products via the social networking platform. And in a statement, Facebook has said that it is looking into options to how to do that.

According to Pew Research and Center, in 2016, 44 percent of US adults consumed news via Social Media. Now, Facebook plans to allow users to subscribe for this news. In other words, users will have an option to pay for news content via the Facebook website or the Facebook app itself.

Of course, the road to this finally happening is long and dreary. There will be questions of how to do this, what would be the structure of financial divisions if and when this happens, etc.

But this doesn’t mean that Facebook is making its content paid. It is only allowing content and news companies to provide a subscription feature.
