HT Media has decided to rope in Prabhakar Singh, as the financial year has come to its conclusion. Reason? The company’s digital revenues need a facelift.
A source at HT Media has confirmed Mr Singh’s appointment in new role as the Revenue Head for HT Digital Content.
He will be reporting to Sanjay Trehan, the Business Head of Digital Content & Syndication at HT Media. Trehan further reports to HT Digital Streams’ CEO Shantanu Bhanja.
This will be Singh’s second innings at the over 90-year-old legacy media organisation. Prabhakar Singh was once before associated with HT Media as the head of HT’s mobile and online business division for four years. India.com was his final assignment, a joint venture between US-based Penske Media Corporation (PMC) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL).
Mr Singh has to his credit almost twenty long years of association with media brands such as Times Internet and The Indian Express. HT Media, post the creation of an integrated newsroom is now focused on strengthening digital operations partially leveraging print.
Even though the company’s losses amount to nearly Rs 38 crore from its digital operations at the end of 2017 financial year, HT Media is convinced by the opportunities of a digital-future.
