Eros is one of the biggest names in the world of films. It launched its online presence a while ago and now it seems that the company will concentrate on making web series with profits declining from their film business. Eros also announced that they will be making one or two web series every month – and that will go live on their website.
Everything that Eros did over a few years hinted at that. It was one of the first apps available for the smart TV platform. Earlier, it launched promos of their upcoming films exclusively on the Eros website, before it went live on the other platforms like YouTube. Earlier, they’d keep the time difference of a few hours.
Film distribution revenues have come down since a few years. According to reports, in 2015, the revenue was around 10,000 crores. In 2016, the revenue saw a decline of around 1 percent to 9,980 crores. In such a scenario, it makes sense for a content library to look for ways to make their online presence stronger.
