In an interesting turn of events, Disney has announced that it will stream the Marvel and Star Wars franchise on its own streaming channel scheduled to launch in 2019. The company had allowed streaming giant Netflix to stream these franchises.

Apart from that, there’s some further happy news for the digital audiences. Bob Iger, CEO, Disney shared in a media interaction that Disney will produce four to five original Disney series, and three to four exclusive Disney movies, apart from the existing TV library.

As The Digital Hash earlier reported, Netflix is upping its game by acquiring contents that can fill in the ‘Disney void’ – like buying publishing company Millarworld. Will it be a game-changer? This is something only time will tell.

With so many streaming services, let’s hope the digital entertainment bill doesn’t burn a hole in our pockets. Fingers crossed.
