Disney Planning 3 Minute Short Films Starring Star Wars Female Characters

The next installment from the eponymous Star Wars franchise got a fresh trailer that impressed audiences. Here comes news that Disney is planning to launch a set of 3 minute short films, under the umbrella title Disney – Forces of Destiny. The series will debut on the Disney YouTube channel in July, before premiering on the Disney Channel some time in 2017.

The films will focus on the women from the world of Star Wars and will have the voice talents of several actors who have played female characters, with with Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, Ashley Eckstein and Tiya Sircar all reprising their roles from previous Star Wars properties.  Lupita Nyong’o’s Maz Kanata will narrate each episode. Shelby Young will voice Leia.

The series will be part of the incredible storyline of the Star Wars franchise, so there is every chance that the happenings in these short films will have an effect on the characters when they appear in other Star Wars episodes.
