Some of the finest names from mainstream are coming to streaming. Netflix has given us some of the most interesting Indian content, Sacred Games and Ghoul – and that was just the beginning. Now, visionary director Deepa Mehta comes to Netflix with a dystopian drama web series, Leila. The series stars Huma Qureshi and Siddharth Suryanarayan. Mehta is the Creative Executive Producer and Mehta will direct the series, along with Shanker Raman and Pawan Kumar.

The web series is based on a book by Prayaag Akbar. The is set in a dystopian world, where Shalini looks for her missing daughter. The book has won critical acclaim over at Kindle, with some reviewers calling Prayaag the bold new voice of new Indian writing.

Netflix is betting big on the India game and it is making sense for them. With Sacred Games becoming a benchmark for streaming entertainment in India, Netflix has a heads up in the streaming market for India.
