Dear White People is one of the few web series on Netflix that aren’t sci-fi or superhero and having a strong run. Now, Netflix has announced that the web series will have a third season. The announcement was made by the person who plays the narrator of the series, Giancarlo Esposito.
The web series is based on the acclaimed indie feature by Justin Simien and produced by Lionsgate. The series is based in an Ivy League university, that’s predominantly white and the racial tensions are around the corner. The series is about a group of students of colour are coming to terms with their life in a predominantly white environment.
The series is also one of the few series that are set in a school and have survived on Netflix. Dear White People is unique because it talks about all the racial and cultural issues that hound America, but it does it in a lighthearted, low-key manner.
Dear White People stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson.
