The Lionsgate produced Dear White People spun off a web series on Netflix of the same name. That series has been earmarked for a second season. The series, set in the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university with racial issues just around the corner has been critically acclaimed. The second season of the series follows a group of Winchester University students of colour who experience social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness and activism in the millennial age.

The show stars Logan Browning, Brandon Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Baine Featherson and Marque Richardson. The series won several awards, including an Audience Award at the SXSW last year. The series also won nominations at the Gotham and Image Awards.

This is another comedy web series that’s based in schools being renewed by Netflix. Netflix also renewed series like Friends from College and On My Block. However, the other web series that was based on college students, Everything Sucks, has been discontinued after only one season.

Yvette Lee Bowser directs the series, created by Justin Simien. Stephanie Allian and Julia Lebedev executive produce the show.
