Chris Rock will premiere on Netflix on Valentine’s with Chris Rock: Tamborine. The standup at will have Rock talk about relationships, race and society in his inimitable manner. Bo Burnham directs this show, filmed at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music.

This is the first of two specials that Rock will release on Netflix according to the deal he signed with the Big N in 2016. The financials of the deals run in double figure millions.

Chris Rock has earlier given stand up content, with his Kill the Messenger premiering on HBO in 2008. He also helmed the 2015 special Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo. He is a multiple Grammy and Emmy winner and has an Oscar nomination under his belt.

With this, Netflix has added to their reality TV content – which seems to be the next bastion for the streaming platforms – the big ones as well as the small ones. Chris Rock is one of the most popular stand up talents and actors – and it makes complete sense for Netflix to invest in bringing Chris to the streaming audiences. He is one of the several stand up and comedy talents to come to ink deals with Netflix. Earlier, Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres and Kevin James have signed u with Netflix.
