Chota Bheem is one of the few animation franchises in India that have really worked. Launched nearly a decade ago, the franchise has three feature films, several television films and the characters have had their spinoffs.
Now, the Indian animation franchise reaches Netflix with a Netflix original television series. The name of the main character is Mighty Little Bheem. The CEO of Greengold Animation, Rajiv Chilaka, creator of the character, revealed that the series is currently in post-production and it will stream sometime next year.
Rajeev also revealed that the main character in the Netflix Original series will be a baby and therefore will not be able to speak. This does away with the language restrictions and therefore the series will be streamed in more than 190 countries.
Along with this, the company is also working on a 3D film starring the main character. While the film will have a theatrical release sometime during Diwali, it’s quite possible that the film will be soon seen in the Netflix inventory. This is just another step in the ‘Indianisation’ of content that both Netflix and Amazon Prime are trying to do ever since they entered the Indian market with their huge production budgets. Certainly, a good time for Indian content creators.,
