Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani was a proud parent at the launch of his short sci-fi film Carbon. He was talking about how difficult it was to convince people to be part of Carbon, but was content with the final result. Only if there was more money, he would have upped the ante, he shared. Carbon is set in 2067, trying to depict what life would be on earth when oxygen finally becomes a rare commodity.

Presented by Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films’, the event was held at a South Mumbai five star hotel with all the makings of a business event. But that is the kind of response you expect from a film which is unconventional.

Prachi Desai seemed just too happy to be part of such a novel project, and seemed genuinely interested in the message of the short film. The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a special appearance, who wasn’t present at the launch.

It was such a delight to see the writer-director duo of Maitrey Bajpai & Ramiz Ilham Khan. This industry has many creative people trying to mingle with journalists to ‘be in news’. But this dedicated duo seemed at peace with the fact that their work is being screened and appreciated.

Also present at the event was Gautam Gupta, a co-producer of the film. Gautam, who is also an actor, was looking at ease playing a different role, and trying to be behind the camera as much as possible.

Overall, the closed door event was significant to convey a message – the celebrities can add the glitz and glamour to the event, instead of ‘unnecessarily’ use of electricity and increasing carbon footprints.
