Apple shook the streaming by announcing that they are entering the content producing market with $1 billion. With this, it joins the ranks of Netflix, Amazon and HBO when it comes to content creation. Apple may use this money to acquire and produce as many as 10 web series in a year. A typical web series is about 10 episodes. This might make Apple’s content one of the most expensive web series in recent times.
Pundits will frown on why Apple is making pathways into the streaming business, but it already have an USP that Netflix doesn’t have – their iPads and iPhones. It will make complete business sense for Apple to group their produced content with the new iPads and iPhones – thereby creating a huge audience for their content automatically.
