Apple announces multi-year content partnership with Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey and Apple have announced a multi-year content partnership to create original programmes. Oprah’s content will be part of original content lineup from Apple. Prior to Oprah, Apple also announced similar content deals with Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg.

On similar lines, Netflix made heads turn by announcing a content deal with Barack Obama. It is a multi-year production deal. Another streaming service, Amazon bought the TV rights of The Lord of The Rings for a whopping 1 billion dollars. The production for this series, though, will start two years within the deal. The figure is bigger than what the budget for the film version of the book.

Apart from that, other big names such as Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Robert De Niro, Will Smith, Idris Elba and many other have been bitten by the digital entertainment bug recently. Coming back to Oprah, she also owns the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
