Applause Entertainment has been in the streaming business for a while now. Their next web series is on a very interesting subject – the Taj Mahal. However, the web series will not look at the Taj Mahal as a monument that symbolises love, but as a monument that has an equal share of bloodshed. The series captures the darker, lesser known facts about the three centuries that the Mughals ruled India, having Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb as some of the characters.

The series will have about five seasons of twelve episodes each and will use Shah Jahan’s birth and death as the pivot points of the entire story. According to sources, the series will talk about the Mongol origins and how Persian and Rajput Royalty bloodlines mixed with the Mughals. Of course, the arrival of the British and the Portuguese

The concept is interesting, with a younger India interested in India’s history since a while now. And with the freedoms that the world of streaming provide to the audience, it’s quite possible that the series gives an unhindered look at India’s past.
