Amazon Prime is going great guns in the reality streaming scene. They launched their upcoming reality comedy web series – Comicstaan, at a glitzy event at Glocal, Worli where the who’s who of the comic scene in India were present. The hosts, Sumukhi and Abish were in top form and had the audiences in splits. They also revealed the basic premise of Comicstaan, where the popular standup comedians of today will judge upcoming contestants. The judges will be Kanan Gill, Sumukhi Suresh, Tanmay Bhatt, Biswa and others.

At the launch, Amazon Prime also announced something that they’d do for the first time – offer two episodes of the series for free – something that will work pretty well for the Indian audiences.

Amazon Prime seems certain about their commitment to bringing Indian content to Indian and international audiences. They earlier brought Inside Edge, the first major Indian web series, that starred some of the most well-known actors and actresses, like Richa Chadha, Vivek Oberoi, and others.  Their earlier reality show, The Remix, was about well-known singers and music contestants who judged upcoming singing and composing talents.
