Traditionally, Indian kids have been ignored by the Entertainment industry. Less than one film per year is made that exclusively caters to kids. They have little option but to watch poorly made Indian content on television. There’s only a couple of children-friendly franchises in traditional media, but Amazon Prime wishes to change all that – and are targetting the summer holidays for their coup.
The streaming giant is coming up with various series that cater to children. It’s not like they didn’t have any content for children earlier too. Amazon Prime in India is home to some of the most interesting cartoon series that cater to children – X-Men, Iron Man, The Avengers, Dennis the Menace, G.I Joe etc. It also has completely new seasons of the famous cartoon series like Shin Chan, Ninja Hattori, Doraemon and Oggy & the Cockroaches. Granted, the Marvel comics content isn’t mind-blowing, but at least there’s something to keep the children content and interested.
The content for children scene became hotter when Amazon announced its exclusive, Baahubali: The Lost Legends, an animated prequel to the Baahubali franchise. And now, it is launching several India based web series.
One of them is Atchoo, about a young boy who turns into an animal each time he sneezes. Then there’s Astra Force, the first animated show that features an animated version of Amitabh Bachchan as the mythical hero, Astra the Immortal. Astra the Immortal teams up with two 8-year old twins to battle monsters and super-villains.
There’s also Munki and Trunk two hedgehogs living in their natural environs and Zak Storm. Zak Storm is from the makers of Ben 10, that’s a cartoon series that was insanely famous back in the 90s.
Summer for children and families is definitely becoming more entertaining – even if they decide not to head out this season, all thanks to Amazon.
