The home grown streaming platforms have stayed away from controversial content, apart from ALTBalaji. ALTBalaji ventured out of the feel-good, slice-of-life content on their streaming platform within six months and gave us some of the most interesting and unique web series like Bose: Dead/Alive, The Test Case and others. Now, ALTBalaji brings to us Gandii Baat, one of the most interesting web series to hit the streaming platforms that is bound to become controversial before you can say stream it.
The trailer of the series is out and gives a better idea of what the series is all about. The show revolves around strange incidents in rural India and is directed by Sachin Mohite, who had earlier directed Savdhaan India.
The series stars Anant Joshi, Narayani Shastri, Neetha Shetty, Rohit Choudhary, Rajesh Tripathi, Deepika Khanna, Mrinalini Tyagi, Naveen Pandita, Vaibhav Shah and Nirbhan Goswami.
The first trailer talks about an incident where the women of an entire village marry a serpent god, effectively driving away the men from their houses and their beds. The story and the screenplay are not for family audiences and there’s a sprinkling of intimate scenes – both consensual and non-consensual. For audiences who find sexual assault and BDSM scenes revolting, this is not something that they’d binge-watch. Watch the first teaser trailer here:
Gandii Baat will stream on ALTBalaji on May 3.
