All I Want’ looked promising with its synopsis and story and it is now winning big at The Cannes. The film, directed by Venika Mitra, was about a young street urchin, Ratan, and the adventures he has to go through to buy a mango. The film has won at the Beyond Borders Diversity of Cannes Short Film Showcase.
During a media interaction, Mitra confirmed that the inspiration behind the series was his love for mangoes and a real life incident involving Venika’s maid-servant. When she gave her money to buy something for her daughters, she instead opted for mangoes. That gave Venika a whole new insight into the ambitions of the poor.
