Post the release of Bollywood film Fukrey Returns, Ali Fazal is shooting for Mirzapur the web original by Excel Entertainment for Amazon Prime Video. Ali, who is busy completing Mirzapur with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, admits that he took his inspiration from Sanjay Dutt for his role in the movie.

Ali plays a gangster in this film and Sanjay is known for his roles in Bollywood films. Ali will be playing a character with grey shades in the film set in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Ali also underwent special training in using handguns, rifles and handmade pistols (Wow).

Furthermore, to prepare for his role, Ali has been avoiding much social interaction. So much that he didn’t interact with his cast members to prepare for a few scenes, to get the right intensity in front of the camera. Apart from that, he has also been working on his dialect and physique to make the character as real as possible.

In India, Amazon Prime tasted stupendous success with the cricket drama Excel Entertainment’s Inside Edge that also starred Ali’s rumoured beau Richa Chadha, also his Fukrey co-star. The streaming service is gearing up for other web series for the Indian market. Breathe starring R Madhavan will premiere on 26 January, TheDigitalHash.com has already reported about it.

Apart from that, Amazon Prime will also stream Zoya Akhtar’s Made in Heaven, which is a web series based in Delhi and is being shot currently. Then there’s McMafia, which TheDigitalHash.com has extensively written about. It stars James Norton, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and is based on the book McMafia: A Journey Through The Global Criminal Underworld. However, this will not be an Amazon Prime Original, but a BBC Television eight-part drama series.
