Netflix is upping its sci-fi game this year. Several such movies and series, including the Netflix Original IO is coming to the streaming platform. And even as that trailer hits the streaming platforms, Netflix dropped the trailer for Russian Doll, a sci-fi series that has a bit of a comedy. In the series, a middle-aged woman faces a unique experience, where she relives the events leading to her death – again and again.

What adds to the concept is the dark comedy aspects that are added to the script. Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland create the series, that stars Natasha, Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Elizabeth Ashley and Charlie Bannet.

The concept has often been used in both its simplistic and complicated form., While Black Mirror: Bandersnatch went the complicated way, films like Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow and before that Run Lola Run have used time loops. The Bill Murray starrer Groundhog Day has used the concept in an exquisite manner back in the late nineties.
