Aaj Tak defined the news genre in India in the late nineties and it is going full strength in the streaming world too. Aaj Tak’s video channel hit 29.7 billion video views on Facebook in May. In a study by Vidooly, Vidooly found that Aaj Tak’s video viewership on Facebook is more than ABP News and Times of India. ABP News stands at 18 million views while Times of India stands at 11 million views.
Indian media houses have finally woken up to the reach of Facebook videos. In fact, many media houses now commission a video that’d be perfect for Facebook and mobile consumption. Earlier, this would just be a number game. With Facebook coming up with advertising for videos now, it might very well be a revenue thing in the new few months.
