Expectations: Mah Life, Mah Rulz. Reality: It is my life, but I shall live according to the rules laid down by society.
Bound by order, no human being is spared from the thresholds there lies upon. Be it rules laid by the family, institutions or even relationships, we all have to act in confinement so as to live and have a happy life. But the nature of these rules is always in a state of flux. Ironic isn’t it? The Screen Patti (TSP)’s Awkward Conversations with Girlfriend showcases the same essence of a cute-yet-troubled couple that is plunged into tricky situations. In a relationship, there are things that you do and things that you don’t.
Making things simpler for you, here’s a 5-point guide for things that are completely off-limits for a happy relationship –
1. Your Best friend’s Ex:
What Bro-code and Sis-code have in common is THIS rule. Your best friend’s ex is off limits. You do not look at them, speak of wanting them or even think of wanting them. It is a big no-no. Let’s put it this way, it is losing a lover and a friend at the same time. Going after your Best friend’s ex could amount to the biggest betrayal. Don’t go down this route unless your friend is absolutely fine with the relationship (in utopia).
2. Your Partner’s BFF:
Your partner may be extremely good-looking, but if their best friend can spark an electric buzz with just their presence and your partner senses it, things can go pretty downhill from there. God forbid, if the question ever arises whether you find the BFF attractive, that’s when you know it’s time to run for your life! Don’t believe it? We dare you to try it.
3. Infringing your partner’s privacy:
Do Dil, Ek Jaan sure seems romantic, but let us break it down for you. The very basic rule, rather expectation about being in a relationship is being there for each other and not enforcing oneself on you partner. Respecting each other’s space and privacy is crucial. After all, your partner deserves the benefit of the doubt. Asking for passwords, may not work in the best interest for either of the people involved. If you ask us, the mantra to a blissful relationship is to live and let live.
4. Joking about a pregnancy scare:
Who doesn’t love a good sense of humour? But there’s a time and place for everything. And trust us, THIS is not something you would want to poke fun about. With a million emotions running high through the mind and heart and the feeling being overwhelming, to say the very least, in the first place, there’s no need to add to the entire situation with some uncalled-for jokes. Things can go really awkward if the couple doesn’t agree on the pregnancy topic and are not ready to have a conversation about it.
5. Surveilling your partner’s social media activity:
Online two minutes ago and yet did not reply, leaving you on seen, uploading stories and not texting back, following other people, accepting requests from unknown people should not trigger you. Keeping a track of your partner’s social media activity will stress you out. You may over think and conjure situations which are least likely to happen and ruin your mood. All this just because you were left on seen? Not worth it. In order to maintain emotional sanity, this is important.
Don’t believe in the above? Watch Ishan played by the digital heartthrob Ritvik Sahore, go through multiple tricky situations with his partner Ananya (Rashmi Agdekar) in TSP’s latest series ‘Awkward Conversations with Girlfriend’.
