Netflix’s most popular and also controversial series 13 Reasons Why is going to come out on May 18, Netflix announced this through the video of the new season. As per Netflix, this season finds Hannah’s parents suing Liberty High School, and a series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up. The fallout from Hannah’s suicide as well as sexual assault (Hannah’s and Jessica’s) will be top of mind in this new season.
The trailer Netflix released Monday shows classmates Tony (Christian Navarro), Jessica (Alisha Boe), Bryce (Justin Prentice), guidance counselor Mr. Davis (Joseph C. Phillips), Hannah’s mother Olivia (Kate Walsh) and series protagonist Clay (Dylan Minnette) all frozen in time as floating photos hint at moments to come. The final photo of the trailer teases that “the tapes were just the beginning.”
13 Reasons Why Season 2 is executive produced by Selena Gomez, as well as Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Joy Gorman Wettels, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin. TheDigitalHash.com recently reported that Netflix was asked to not release 13 Reasons Why, until it is deemed safe by experts in the scientific community for consumption by an audience that is comprised heavily of minor children. The request has come from The Parents Television Council.
